A Grease Dropping Point Apparatus determines the temperature at which lubricating grease becomes fluid enough to drip, indicating its heat resistance and performance limit.
Compliance Standard : ASTM D566 – Standard Test Method for Drop Point of Lubricating Grease, IP 31, IS 1448 (P-51)
Application : The Grease Drop Point Apparatus is used to determine the drop point of lubricating greases, which indicates the temperature at which grease changes from a semi-solid to a liquid state. This test is essential for assessing the thermal stability and high-temperature performance of greases used in automotive, industrial, bearing, and heavy machinery applications. The apparatus is widely used in lubricant manufacturing plants, petroleum testing laboratories, R&D centers, and quality control laboratories.
Product Description : The Grease Drop Point Apparatus is a precision laboratory instrument designed for accurate and repeatable determination of the drop point of lubricating greases. The apparatus consists of a controlled electric heating unit, glass test jar, grease cup assembly, thermometer or digital temperature sensor, and a heat-resistant sample holder. The instrument ensures uniform and controlled heating, allowing the grease sample to melt and form the first drop, which is observed and recorded as per ASTM D566. Its compact design, sturdy construction, and ease of operation make it ideal for routine laboratory testing.
